Rita L. Cadet passed away peacefully in Cambridge MA, on Saturday, January 30th, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born to Luce Landais and Petion Narcisse (deceased) on April 14th, 1939. Rita was one of seven children: Pierre Landais (deceased), Moise Landais (deceased), Dennis Landais, Trasile Landais, Hugo Landais, August Landais (deceased).

Rita worked as a teacher in Haiti. She attended St. Bernadette’s Church where she was part of the choir and Victor was the pianist. Rita and Victor Cadet ended getting together and got married years later. They ended up having five children. The names of the children are Marie Bernadette Cadet, Richard Jean Cadet, Joseph Guy Dakeem Cadet, Patricia Sandra Cadet Hogarth and Anthony Jude Cadet.

Rita and Victor Cadet migrated to the United States in the 1970s. While Rita was living her life to the fullest in the United States, her goals were to take care of her family and accomplish as much as she could.

Rita worked very hard and also believed in higher education. Rita was able to receive a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She worked in various hospitals such as Youville Hospital and Cambridge Hospital from which she retired so she could spend more time with her grandchildren. Rita was a proud grandmother of Natacha Maria Labery, Terrence Jordan Cadet, Ahnia Luce Hogarth and Sheldon Miles Cadet.

Rita loved to sing. She enjoyed sports and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Rita was a kindhearted, deserving mother and grandma. She was always in good spirits and had one of the nicest smiles. She loved to dance, cook, and sing. She was always determined and never gave up easily. She always had a loving passion for planting. In the summer she used to grow a bunch of herbs and veggies and never missed a day of watering them. Rita also had a huge apple tree in her front yard which she took care of a lot. Rita was one of the kindest souls you would ever meet and always made someone smile.

“We would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14).

Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories on Saturday February 6th, 2021 with Rita L Cadet at the Donovan-Aufiero Funeral Home, 140 Otis St., Cambridge from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, 49 6th Street, Cambridge at 10:00 AM.
