Edward P. DePierro, Sr., lifelong East Cambridge resident, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, the 19th. He was born to Italian immigrants, the late Pietro and Maria DePierro of East Cambridge. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Nagoya, Japan. After returning to the States, he worked at the US Post Office with his brothers Paul and Mario DePierro. Concurrently, he studied marketing and business at Suffolk University. He graduated in 1961, and earned a spot in ‘Who’s Who In American Colleges’. Following graduation, he started working for the Anheuser Busch Company in 1962 until his retirement in 1992.

Ed was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Mario, along with his beloved sister, Susan Rizzo of Somerville. Ed leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ (Carbone); his children: Ed Jr and his partner Lisa Madison. Colonel Judy Rattan and her husband Chris; his grandchildren: Angiolina DePierro and her finance Ryan, Ilyanna DePierro, Angela Grace Bryza and her husband Nic, and Luke Manno. His great grandson Vincent Edward Bryza. Additionally, he will be fondly missed by his beloved cat (‘that I never wanted’) Missy Misty.

Ed’s family will be receiving visitors this Thursday morning from 10:30-11:30 at Donovan Aufiero Funeral Home at 140 Otis St, Cambridge. Interment will be at Cambridge Cemetery. Sadly due to illness, his wife Betty will be unable to be present. The funeral procession will be driving by Betty’s rehab window to ensure she is part of the funeral.
